This month sees a personal milestone. I’ve been blogging about genealogy for 10 years! I’ve been taking commissioned work for a little longer but the blog is really what helped to build my online presence (along with Twitter). Here’s a word cloud of the most common words on my blog.
The blog started out with just basic information on when my classes and lectures would take place. I expanded to publish research on my own family tree, and then continued with educational pieces illustrating different records and of course a lot about how to use DNA testing for genealogy.
I’m proud of what I’ve achieved over the years & want to especially thank everyone who has ever engaged with me, be it commissioning research, interacting on social media or subscribing to my newsletter.
To celebrate the first 10 years, I have a competition. The lovely people at MyHeritage have supplied an autosomal DNA test.
MyHeritage is one of the largest databases for DNA testing and has a lot of Irish people in it. They have some top notch tools which, as a professional, I use all the time. I wrote about their clustering tools last month.
To go with this DNA test, I will be offering a free Zoom consultation, once your results are processed. This hour-long consultation will show you have to manage your DNA test, begin to cluster your matches and teach you the tools you need to get on the way to a bigger family tree.
